Safety and Sanitary Guidelines

PATRON SAFETY

Update as of 10/4/2021:

WaterTower Theatre has successfully kept our staff and artists safe over the last two years and are committed to ensuring the safety of our patrons. Our safe & sanitary policies prioritize the health and safety of our employees, patrons, & our arts community. Together we will come out of this time safely and stronger than ever.

  • Masks are optional & will be provided to the audience if needed.
  • Patrons will be checked in by Front of House associates upon arrival. Hard copy tickets will not be used.
  • The Box Office window will be closed, but Front of House associates will be available to facilitate day-of ticket purchases only, pending availability.
  • A digital, downloadable program will be available on the WaterTower website. Hard-copy programs will not be distributed.
  • Touchless hand sanitizer stations will be available.
  • The Terry Martin Main Stage ventilation (HVAC) system has been fully tested and balanced to ensure increased airflow and outside air mix in the building.


EMPLOYEE SAFETY*

WaterTower Theatre has successfully kept our staff and artists safe over the last year and are committed to ensuring the safety of our patrons as we look towards reopening. Our current safe & sanitary policies will remain in place & we will continue to require masks to be worn in accordance with CDC Guidelines. WaterTower will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our employees, patrons, & our arts community. Together we will come out of this time safely and stronger than ever.


  • Mandatory temperature checks must be logged electronically for all employees before they can enter the building. Anyone running a fever (100.4 or higher) will be sent home immediately to quarantine.
  • Masks are required. If you do not have one, a disposable mask will be provided to you before you may enter.
  • Office entrances will remain locked to all non-employees.
  • Touchless hand sanitizer stations will be available at all employee entrances to the building & must be utilized upon entry.
  • A personal hand sanitizer will be provided to each employee for personal use.
  • Masks must always be worn outside of your personal office. Hand sanitizer must be applied before leaving and after returning to your personal office.
  • To minimize the number of employees who need to work in the office at the same time, work from home options will be available.
  • Employees who have their own office space can work as needed with their office door closed. If you have a shared office, please continue to work from home.
  • Gloves will be used when appropriate.
  • Box office will remain available by phone and email only during this time to minimize public access to the building. Hours may be limited.
  • WTT scenic carpenters, electricians, and painters will be assigned personal tools which they will be responsible for storing sanitizing between uses. Tools are not to be shared. Masks will be mandatory and social distancing will be implemented at all times possible. The number of crew members in the shop at one time will be minimized to allow for distancing. In addition to masks and sanitization, gloves will be used whenever safe. Work gloves will not be shared and must be disinfected by the wearer between uses.



PERFORMER & CREW SAFETY*

Update as of 1/21/2021:

  • Mandatory temperature checks must be logged electronically for all employees before they can enter the building. Anyone running a fever (100.4 or higher) will be sent home immediately to quarantine. Please text your Stage Manager on arrival. Doors will be locked to prevent non-employees from entering the building.
  • Call board and sign in sheet will be eliminated and replaced with text check-ins to the stage manager.
  • All employees must enter through the office entrance.
  • Touchless hand sanitizer stations will be available at all employee entrances to the building and must be utilized upon entry.
  • A personal hand sanitizer will be provided to each employee for personal use.
  • Masks are required. If you do not have one, a disposable mask will be provided to you before you may enter.
  • Masks must always be worn, unless you are an actor who is on stage or in a rehearsal situation where it is appropriate. All performers must be distanced from crew/creatives before removing their mask.
  • Rehearsals will be relocated from the rehearsal room to the mainstage space to allow for more social distance and maximum airflow.
  • Office entrances will remain locked to all non-employees. No cast or crew is permitted in the lobby. No non-cast or crew members or visitors are allowed backstage.
  • All crew headsets will be assigned and must be sanitized by the user and stored in assigned separate containers when not in use.
  • All actors will be responsible for handling their own assigned microphones and batteries which must be sanitized and stored in assigned containers when not in use.
  • Dressing rooms will be sanitized between every rehearsal and performance by WTT staff.
  • The Green Room will be temporarily closed to prevent gathering in a space that is not conducive to social distancing.
  • Shared water pitchers and coolers will not be utilized at this time. Please bring your own water each day in closed containers.
  • Please do not bring food to share during this time.
  • Set pieces are only to be used by the actor. If work has been done on the set between rehearsals, the set must be sanitized before actors are given access.
  • By following these guidelines, no crew or staff should need to make hand-to-hand contact with each other during rehearsals or filming.
  • If crew needs to be within 8 feet of the performer during filming, they must gain the performer’s permission before doing so.
  • Dressing rooms:
    • Actors will be assigned solo dressing rooms. This also eliminates the need for actors to use the public restrooms. Dressing rooms will remain locked when not in use.
    • The Director and Production Manager will also be assigned solo dressing rooms for personal use.
    • Personal belongings are not allowed to be left in dressing rooms overnight to allow for cleaning completed by WTT staff.
  • Costumes:
    • Laundry will be completed by a single designated crew member who must wear gloves and a mask.
    • Any dry cleaning will be returned to actor’s stations in plastic.
    • A steamer will be placed in each dressing room for use of the actor in that dressing room only. This can be used to sanitize any costume pieces.
    • Actor is responsible for their own costume changes which must be done in their dressing room.
    • Actors will be required to set props themselves to eliminate the need for anyone to touch their personal props.
  • Props:
    • All props will be sanitized and stored in closed containers if item size permits. This will be completed by a designated crew member daily.
